Nectar, the British multisponsor retail loyalty card launched twelve months ago with the backing of supermarketeer J Sainsbury, department-store chain Debenhams, BP and Barclaycard, is within sight of signing its thirteen millionth member – well ahead of its year one target of 12 million.
The announcement was timed to coincide with the signing of another major retailer, AllSports, which is closing its dedicated rewards scheme in favour of Nectar across its 280-strong chain of outlets.
Nectar, run by Loyalty Management UK, also numbers among its sponsors Vodafone, children’s apparel chain Adams and drinks retail group First Quench.
The Nectar scheme was conceived by LMUK chairman Keith Mills, one of the founding duo behind the rival Air Miles loyalty programme (now owned by British Airways and promotionally linked to Britain's largest supermarket chain Tesco).
