LONDON: Members of Britain's Association of Online Publishers enjoyed an average increase in revenues of 60% in 2006 and expect this to rise to 70% in the current year.

According to the AOP's Census 2007, an average of 12% of members' overall revenue now accrues from digital sources. Total turnover for members' digital operations increased to £575 million ($1.15bn; €850.1m), up from £344m the previous year.

Advertising contributes the largest share of online revenue for digital publishers at 75%. Display advertising (including sponsorship) contributes 59% of overall income, classifieds contribute 16% , and paid-for content (including syndication) contributes 12% of revenues.

Revenue from paid-for content increased by 50% in 2006. Nearly half (46%) of AOP members charge for content, up from 37% in 2006.
