Top Brand Rankings by UK Supermarket Sales

News, 30 August 2004

TNS Superpanel has teamed with Marketing magazine to name and rank Britain's top fifty brands sold via supermarkets.

Leading the pack in terms of supermarket sales revenues are PepsiCo's Walkers Snacks, Unilever's Birds Eye and Kellogg's. The top twenty rankings and revenues are listed below and the full list plus commentary can be viewed via the BrandRepublic website.

Superpanel is a sample of 15,000 households across Great Britain, being representative demographically and geographically of the UK as a whole.

Using a home barcode-scanner, panellists record their entire take-home purchasing. As the sample is representative, these purchase records can be grossed up to represent purchasing behaviour of every UK home.

The data covers the 52-weeks to June 30 2004 and (for purposes of comparison) the preceding twelve months.
