LONDON: European ISP Tiscali, the UK's third-largest broadband operator, yesterday confirmed its £60 million ($113.7m; €88.9m) acquisition of Video Networks, owner of the ailing Home Choice brand.

Although the brand itself is due for oblivion, its technology will enable Tiscali UK to offer a 'triple play' of internet access, fixed-line telephony and one hundred online TV channels.

Ceo Mary Turner said a branding and advertising review is in process and that the new offering will relaunch under the better-known Tiscali name, with the acquired brand relegated to a secondary role such as "powered by Home Choice"

The move comes in advance of Tiscali's review of its £15m advertising and marketing account.
