America’s magazine ad sector continues to recover, with new figures from the Publishers Information Bureau showing a third consecutive monthly improvement in January.
Ad pages rose 4.8% year-on-year last month, driven by increases in ten of the PIB’s 12 advertiser categories.
The sharpest rise came in the apparel and accessories sector, which increased ad pages by 29.5%, followed by auto (+20.6%) and toiletries/cosmetics (+16.4%).
The two categories runing fewer ad pages were financial/insurance/real estate (-0.8%) and direct-response advertising (-7.5%).
