MEXICO CITY - Hostilities have resumed between Mexican broadcaster Grupo Televisa and US-based Spanish language media company Univision Communications, following the former's failed attempt to acquire the latter [WAMN: 28-Jun-06].
Televisa, which supplies much of Univision's programming, has filed a lawsuit seeking a judgment that it owns the internet rights to the programs after December 2006.
The Mexican group is now considering the launch of a rival Spanish-language network in the US, in which event a court's declaration that it owns the internet rights to its programming could prove vital.
