TOP SAATCHI COUPLE QUIT IN WAKE OF PUBLICIS TAKEOVER

News, 14 September 2000

Britons Jennifer Laing and Tony Dalton, the longtime couple who together hold the reins at Saatchi & Saatchi's North American operations, are quitting at the end of November to return to the UK.

Their departure as chairwoman/chief executive and vice chairman respectively, is precipitated by a reorganization following the agency's recent acquisition by Publicis Groupe of France. They will not be replaced; instead an eight-strong management and creative team will oversee operations at Saatchi’s New York, San Francisco and Toronto offices.

The eight, all with executive vice-president/managing partner status, are named as Julie Bauer, Keith Bunnell, Mike Burns, Tom Lom, Tim Love, Marie McNeely, Mike Popernick and Tod Seisser. All report to worldwide chief executive Kevin Roberts.

Once back in the UK, Dalton aims to pursue his passion for horse breeding while Laing mulls her next career move.
