NEW YORK: TBWA Worldwide has appointed vice-chairman Tom Carroll to the new post of worldwide president, a move that puts him in pole position to succeed ceo Jean-Marie Dru.

The Omnicom Group agency has made other executive changes to create, according to Dru: "a very solid management organization for the future".

Carroll has been vice chairman since August 2004, charged primarily with managing global accounts such as Absolut and adidas. Before that, he was president of the Americas division, a role he performed for more than three years.
