Rupert Murdoch’s Asian broadcasting division Star TV has awarded the media planning and buying account for its UK launch to MediaVest.

Star TV, which broadcasts to over 300 million viewers in Asia, plans to target Britain’s Indian and Asian populations with two new channels, Star News and Star Plus. These will be launched using sibling Murdoch broadcaster BSkyB.

Commented Star TV’s vice-president of sales and marketing in the UK Lisa Srao: “MediaVest has demonstrated a deep understanding of what we need to achieve and, more importantly, it understands how to get the message across to the Asian consumers in the UK”.
