LONDON: ITV, Britain's largest commercial broadcaster, has filled the vacuum created by the departure of group marketing director Clare Salmon in December. She is replaced by her former lieutenant David Pemsel - an appointment that clearly has the approval of new executive chairman Michael Grade.

Pemsel says his main marketing priorities are a more "consistent" advertising strategy around flagship channel, ITV1, and the launch of ITV's web-powered media player.

"Marketing strategy is fundamental to what we are all thinking about, from programming and commissioning through to what is on Michael Grade's agenda. It is not just about making promos," Pemsel stressed.
