JOHANNESBURG: Following the financial collapse in October 2005 of the Marketing Federation of Southern Africa, a new marketing body is about to arise from the ashes, its inaugural general meeting scheduled for March 5 this year in Johannesburg.
The risen phoenix, to be known as the Marketing Association of South Africa, is the pro bono work of a group of concerned marketing professionals.
According to interim board chairman Bonang Mohale: "We are now ready to present the organisation to the marketing industry. Ours was just an interim responsibility and industry players must now elect those officials they deem fit to lead the organisation."
The new body's declared focus will be centred on the strategic positioning of marketing and marketers to the leaders of business, government and civil society.
