AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND - Number one pay TV operator, News Corporation owned Sky Network Television, is to launch fifteen more channels as it tries to attract younger, 'MTV generation' viewers.

A new satellite, Optus DI, will become operational in September, says ceo John Fellet, and new channels will be rolled out at a rate of one or two a year to maximise their impact.

CanWest's TVWorks, TVNZ and government-owned transmission company Broadcast Communications have also agreed to lease a transponder on the satellite with the aim of providing free-to-air digital TV.
