LONDON: Lee Daley (43), group chairman/ceo of Saatchi & Saatchi UK, this week signed a transfer to play for Manchester United - considered across the cosmos (except by Real Madrid entusiastas) to be Planet Earth's greatest soccer club.
However, Daley's role, which he takes up in April, will be mid-moolah rather than mid-field, playing in the newly-created position of group commercial director.
Says Daley, a life-long Man-U fan: "I leave advertising after twenty fantastic years in order to serve the greatest football club in the world. I am committed to making a difference to the fortunes of the club and helping in the expansion of the business of Manchester United worldwide."
He will be responsible for developing a commercial strategy covering sponsorship, media, marketing and financial services.
