The UK’s number two supermarket chain, the ailing J Sainsbury, has abruptly dispensed with the services of incumbent ad shop M&C Saatchi to return to the bosom of its former agency Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.

The decision followed an allegedly stormy meeting on Tuesday evening when Sainsbury pulled its high-spending TV business and handed it back to AMV.
