Saatchi & Saatchi has signed Candice Carpenter, co-founder and chief executive of women’s interest website iVillage, as a non-executive director.

Says S&S chairman Bob Seelert: “She will add value to the development of our interactive strategies and capabilities, and will provide additional valuable insight for our many female-focussed brands and businesses.”

Carpenter, who launched iVillage when the e-world was young in 1995, led her company to a successful $1 billion IPO last year. Prior to this, her career encompassed the QVC TV shopping channel, Time Warner and American Express. She also holds a Harvard MBA and is an active rock climber [a skill which could stand her in good stead at Saatchi & Saatchi.]
