The relationship between Hamburg-headquartered agency group Springer & Jacoby and the Mercedes-Benz arm of DaimlerChrysler grew closer still yesterday when the carmaker appointed the shop to handle creative work worldwide for two upcoming models: the C-Class Sportcoupé and the C-Class T-Model.

Both new cars will be launched next year across several key markets globally with billings estimated at over $30 million.

To win the business, said J Justus Schneider, Mercedes-Benz vice president for marketing communications worldwide, S&J slugged it out with four other contenders: Singapore-based Batey Ads (a unit of WPP), Havas-owned Devarrieux Villaret in Paris, Partners BDDH in London (also Havas), and Melbourne’s Clemenger BBDO (Omnicom).

S&J’s win complements other recently awarded DaimlerChrysler business [WAMN: 16-Oct/13-Oct/11-Sep/8-Sep].
