A deal has been struck BBC Worldwide’s flagship publication Radio Times and BSkyB. This will see the publisher providing branded programme guides for TiVo, Sky's controversial new digital video recorder.

TiVo has the facility to automatically pause recordings during commercial breaks, much to the disapproval of advertisers and agencies [WAMN: 29-Sep-00].

The Radio Times’ listings will appear in TiVo’s onscreen magazine, alongside general editorial content supplied by Redwood Publishing.

The listings will be personalised according to the preferences of those viewers with a TiVo box, and Sky will supply the BBC with general data on viewing habits. It is improbable, however, that Sky will release detailed viewing data to any third party – let alone the offshoot of a rival broadcaster.

Said Radio Times publisher Ashley Munday: “We are delighted to be involved with TiVo and Sky. This type of programming guidance is right on brand for us."
