The media arm of French-headquartered advertising conglomerate Publicis Groupe has appointed Starcom MediaVest ceo Jack Klues as its chairman.

He will oversee all Publicis' media operations, including Starcom and ZenithOptimedia.

Says Publicis chairman/ceo Maurice Levy: "Jack Klues is wonderfully talented and has helped build Publicis Groupe Media into the world's leading media agency. The success of our operations depends above all on our people - and PGM with Jack at the helm can boast the very best talent in the industry."

Into Klues' shoes at Starcom steps Renetta McCann (49, previously ceo at the media buyer's Americas unit. She joined the agency as a trainee in 1978 when it was a division of [the then indepndent] Leo Burnett.

Starcom currently buys around $18 billion (€14.89bn; £10.13bn) in media time for clients such as Coca-Cola, SAB Miller and Kellogg. It recently won General Motors' $3.2bn billion media buying account, and a large portion of Procter & Gamble's $3.5bn North American media planning account.
