Paris-headquartered Publicis Groupe has admitted to reports that it is mulling the merger of its FCA! BMZ European network into Saatchi & Saatchi, acquired earlier this year.
Concedes Publicis general secretary Jean-Paul Morin: “We are actively seeking to improve the position of Saatchi & Saatchi across Europe. There are a number of ideas on the table for doing this, none of which has been finalized.”
Certain key factors are still on the drawing board, among them decisions as to which European countries would benefit from a merger and a timetable.
FCA! BMZ has a presence in nine European states plus affiliations with partner shops elsewhere on the continent. At least one major client conflict looms over the mooted merger: a key Saatchi & Saatchi client is Procter & Gamble, while FCA! BMZ has German rival Henkel as its anchor account.
