Publicis Groupe is pooling its global healthcare agency assets into a single unit.
Publicis Healthcare Group comprises two divisions: North American and global. In the former are Klemtner Group, Medicus Group and Nelson Communications; in the latter are Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare and the non-US operations of Medicus. Each agency will continue to operate independently.
The new group is headed by Roger Haupt, president/chief operating officer of Publicis. “We believe there are tremendous opportunities for Publicis Groupe in healthcare communications and education around the world,” he commented. “As a result, we are applying very substantial expertise and resources to grow these operations.”
Healthcare is a growth advertising sector, and Publicis’ move follows attempts by rivals Havas and Omnicom Group to bolster their offerings [WAMN: 21-Feb-03; 03-Mar-03].
