British newspaper group Daily Mail & General Trust has reported a marginal rise in fiscal full-year profits despite a slide in revenues.

DMGT -- owner of the midmarket Daily Mail -- posted profits of £108 million ($186m; €155m) for the twelve months to September 28, up just 1% year-on-year. Turnover slid 1% to £1.93 billion, as ad revenues at its national papers slipped 1.7%.

However, conditions may have improved since the end of its financial year. DMGT reported a 1.7% increase in national advertising for October, and a 6% surge in ad revenues at its Northcliffe local newspaper unit.
