MUNICH: Germany's largest privately-owned broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 Media, reports second-quarter profit up by 16% as the improving German economy spurred advertising sales.
Net income increased to €83.4 million ($106.6m; £57.0m) from €71.7m in the year earlier period. Sales rose 8.5% 550.9 million euros.
According to ceo Guillaume de Posch, the German advertising TV market could grow "by even slightly more than the currently anticipated 2% in 2006 if the first positive impulses for the second half persist."
He expects earnings to rise in 2006 while sales will increase between 4% and 5%.
