AMSTERDAM - Market research and media giant VNU is set to be taken over by private equity consortium Valcon Acquisition, which has gained more than 90% of the shares.
Valcon, whose six-strong membership includes Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Carlyle Group, made an improved offer of €8.7bn ($11.27bn; £5.98bn) for the firm - owner of Nielsen Media Research and a raft of business magazines - after its initial €7.5bn offer was rejected [WAMN: 06-Apr-06].
