New York-based magazine group Primedia has teamed with specialist publisher Brill Holdings in a new venture focusing on the inner workings of the media sector.

Media Central links the duo’s publications and websites covering the media world. Included in the scheme are Primedia’s Kagan World Media, American Demographics, Folio Magazine and Cable World.

Although terms have not been disclosed, Steven Brill is known to have agreed to swap a 49% stake his company for a smaller stake in Media Central.

Primedia’s Tom Rogers commented that he hoped Brill, who made his publishing fortune by focusing on the law and the media, would lend an air of showmanship to the venture. He added that Media Central was launching at the right time. “The media business is expanding and the old boundaries that separated these industries are rapidly disappearing.”
