LISBON: Portugal enjoyed a 9.2% increase in advertising expenditure during the first nine months of 2006, notching a total of €2.8 billion ($3.56bn; £1.88bn), reports the local office of Mediamonitor.
TV continues to top the popularity poll, creaming €2bn of total adspend, the main beneficiaries being commercial broadcasters TVI (€916.8m) and SIC (€716.4m. State-owned RTP lagged with €285.6m and cable operator TV Cabo, €162.6m.
As elsewhere on the globe, radio continued to languish, dropping by 6.9%; while press eased upward - just - by a meagre 0.4% to €508m. Outdoor, likewise emulating the trend elsewhere, grew 6.2% to €194m.
