In the wake of restructuring its senior North American management team [WAMN: 11-Jun-02], Pepsi-Cola has appointed Dave Burwick as senior vice-president of marketing and chief marketing officer.

Burwick, a former senior vp marketing, carbonated soft drink brands, is a long-serving Pepsi staffer having joined the company straight out of Harvard Business School in 1989.

His remit is widened to include responsibility for carbonated and non-carbonated brand marketing, innovation, marketplace initiative development and consumer insights.

Rhapsodized Dawn Hudson, herself appointed earlier this month as president of Pepsi’s North American operations: “Dave just gets it. His experience, marketing savvy and gut instincts are priceless assets – as are his creativity, negotiating skills and leadership ability. Dave is everything we could want in a chief marketing officer.”
