Publicis Groupe has shaken up its European regional management structure in the run-up to the retirement of Georg Baums, regional chairman for Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

From the start of the new year, Walter van der Mee will become regional chairman of Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg as well as the three countries already under Baums’ remit.

Van der Mee’s old post as regional chairman for the UK, Baltic and Nordic countries will be filled by Rick Bendel, head of Publicis in the UK.

Publicis ceo Maurice Levy praised Baums’ ten years with the group, hailing it as “one big reason why Publicis' growth in Europe has been, and continues to be, remarkably strong”.
