SYDNEY - Australia's online advertising market surged to $A620 million ($456.51m; €383.46m; £261.98m) last year as advertisers continued to flock to a medium that some analysts predict will be worth $1 billion by the end of 2006.
Advertisers spent 60% more on banner ads, classifieds and online sponsored links compared with 2004, according to the Audit Bureau of Verification Services.
If growth continues at this pace through 2006, online is set to overtake established media such as radio and even magazines in the nation's $10.3 billion advertising market.
