PARIS: Online adspend increased by 6%, to €1.01 billion ($1.4bn; £866m), in France during the first half of 2009, figures from Capgemini, the consultancy, and SRI, the trade industry body, show.

Search spending rose by 10%, to €400m, on an annual basis between January and June this year, while display revenues declined by 7%, to €240m, in the same period.

Mobile ad sales, by contrast, improved by 30%, to €10m, compared with the comparative growth rate of 15% recorded by the medium over 2008 as a whole.

Overall, SRI predicts the web will be the only medium to enjoy meaningful growth in France this year, with its advertising expenditure levels set to rise by between 5% and 6%, to a total of €2.1bn.
