World number one agency holding company Omnicom Group on Tuesday posted sparkling results for the year's second quarter with president/ceo John Wren reporting an 8% rise in profits to $244.1 million (€194.1m; £132.6m). This compares year-on-year with $225.8m, ahead of market expectations.

Revenues worldwide from group agencies such as DDB, BBDO and TBWA\Worldwide, plus the OMD and PHD media networks, totalled $2.82 billion, up 8% from $2.62bn a year ago.

For the half-year to June 30, global revenue increased 7% to $5,386.3m from $5,018.8m in the same period in 2005.

Domestic revenue for the same period increased 8% year-on-year to $2,968.4m from $2,739.8m, while international revenue increased 6% to $2,417.9m.
