The fastest growing US consumer age group for music-related websites is the over-50s, according to a study by Jupiter Media Matrix.
Nearly seven million Americans aged 50-plus accessed sites concerned with music in June. This represents a 92% increase on the previous year’s figures, and over twice the 45% rise among the total US population in the equivalent period.
The most popular music-related sites were Real.com (2.7m visitors), Windowsmedia.com (966,000), Planetofmusic.com (733,000) and MP3.com (488,000).
