OS SLASHES MAP COSTS AFTER INDUSTRY PRESSURE

FOLLOWING SUSTAINED lobbying by the Demographic Users Group, the Ordnance Survey has cut the cost of its business map data by a sensational margin. Exemplar: the 1:50,000 scale colour raster data for the entire United Kingdom has been slashed from £40,000 to £5,000 for a single-seat licence. Comments Bradford & Bingley customer data manager Martin Squires: 'This radical announcement will reduce many of the barriers to the use of map data among business users.'
