According to the 1999 Internet Advertiser Study by the Internet Advertising Bureau of Canada and Darestep, a joint venture by Cap Gemini and Ernst & Young Canada, internet ad revenues in Canada are set to more than double this year.

Online adspend in 1999 reached $45 million and is expected this year to reach $100m. Less than 20% of current online spend by Canadian-based companies was with US-based websites last year and is expected to decline further this year.

Sixty-four per cent of the companies surveyed say they will advertise online within the next twelve months and approximately half the respondents already so do.
