Two Omnicom-owned units are to work together in Italy as from January.

Media network Optimum Media Direction and ad shop TBWA Worldwide will merge their Italian operations under the OMD Italy brand, creating a combined company with 130 employees and $500 million in billings. Leading the merged agency will be Isabella Rota, currently managing director of OMD.

The union follows similar mergers earlier this year of Omnicom offshoots in Denmark, Greece, Norway, Poland and Sweden; also the launches of OMD in the US and UK in February.
