NEW YORK: President/ceo of media agency network OMD Worldwide Joe Uva has been named ceo of US Spanish language broadcaster Univision Communications. The company is in the final stages of a $13.5 billion (€10.23bn; £6.89bn) private equity buy-out led by billionaire investor Haim Saban.
Uva, a former president at Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting System, is expected to bring strong relationships with national advertisers.
He said: "I am excited to have the opportunity to lead a premier company that has redefined the American media landscape and is so deeply embedded in the lives of its audience."
The investor group said in a statement: "Univision has enormous growth opportunities ahead of it, and we are very pleased that an executive with Joe Uva's broad media experience, leadership abilities, and entrepreneurial qualities will be driving our efforts to build value and take the company to the next level."
