Interpublic-owned global sports marketing consultancy Octagon Worldwide has opened an office in South Korea in advance of the 2002 soccer World Cup, to be co-hosted by that country together with Japan.
The Seoul-based start-up has been formed as an equity partnership with Ho Kim, a Korean sports marketer and former advisor to the US Olympic Committee during the 1988 Seoul Games.
Octagon Korea has already been named as marketing advisor by two of the competition’s host cities, Jeju and Ulsan. The Seoul office is its fifth on the Asian continent, lining-up alongside Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai.
