Electronics giant Nokia is on the prowl for an agency to handle international media planning and buying duties for a new joint venture devoted to next-generation services.

The group is in talks with several shops concerning Nokia Ventures, which is designed to diversify the group’s portfolio following a slowdown in its core market of mobile phone handsets. The international account will cover markets such as Europe, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Although Nokia is eager to appoint a media agency, it is unknown whether it will conduct a creative pitch as well. Media duties for its mobile business, handled by MediaCom, are not affected; the group’s advertising agency is Grey Worldwide.
