NEW YORK: News Corporation has inked an eight-year deal with ratings provider Nielsen Media Research, thereby ending a two-year feud over the latter's introduction of its National People Meter system in the US.

NewsCorp had cast doubts on the accuracy of the system after it recorded a ratings slump for some of its ethnic minority channels.

The duo have now set aside their differences, following a pledge by Nielsen to invest up to $50 million (€39m; £26m) on improving response rates among ethnic communities and young viewers.
