BERLIN: The News Corporation media empire has inked a $188 million (€147m: £100m) deal for 51% of cellphone ringtones firm Jamba.

The Germany-headquartered company, part of internet security giant Verisign, is to be merged with NewsCorp's Mobizzo unit, which sells short video clips of TV programs.

Jamba was founded in 2000, but leaped into the limelight in 2004 when its Crazy Frog ringtone became a chart hit in the UK after a television marketing blitz.
