LONDON: The Football Association announced Monday that financial institution Nationwide is to be the England soccer team's sole sponsor in a four-year renewal deal reportedly worth around £25 million ($47.37m; €37.14m).
Welcome though the agreement may be to the cash-hungry soccer body, it is worth significantly less than its original target of £32m.
The announcement marks an unexpected 'kiss-and-make-up' accord between the FA and Nationwide, whose relationship curdled last November after disagreement over the FA's attempted price hike.
