Japanese mobile phone titan NTT DoCoMo is teaming with the Nipponese division of the Walt Disney Internet Group to produce and market mobile internet services worldwide.
Under the agreement, Disney content (including its legion of cartoon characters) will be made available to subscribers. The co-developed material will be distributed via multimedia networks resembling DoCoMo’s i-Mode service – currently the world’s most successful mobile internet phone with 17 million users and due for launch in Europe in the near future.
Similar services will be established globally by members of the Mobile Multimedia Joint Venture, a group to be set up by DoCoMo and several international partners.
Disney content is already available on mobile phones in Japan, where Disney-i was launched last August to provide material to i-Mode users.
