IPC Group has promoted Philippa Brown to the new position of group marketing director. She will spearhead a large-scale marketing drive by the publisher.

A former board director at the Motive Partnership, Brown became IPC's marketing director, advertising, in 1997. In her new role, she assumes control of all marketing activity including advertising, sponsorship and PR for each of the group's titles.

"My main focus will be to challenge all of our existing marketing plans and ensure that we are delivering as effectively and efficiently as possible," Brown said. "I aim to bring in some real creative minds to move our strategies forward. I've appointed a headhunter and we'll be interviewing people over the next few weeks."

She retains her responsibilities as marketing director and board member of IPC’s TV weeklies group
