The departure of Ken Chandler, formerly editor-in-chief and later publisher of News Corporation’s New York Post, to take-up another media appointment, sees Lachlan Murdoch, scion of the more famous Rupert, slipping into the publisher’s vacated chair.

The new post will do little either to impede or enhance Murdoch junior’s career progress from the top to the summit; he already holds the position of co-chairman alongside his father.

Chandler, who has been with the NYP since 1993, was diplomacy personified when interviewed Friday: “I have had a wonderful journey with NewsCorp and now I am looking forward to applying my experience to the field of health information,” he intoned – repeating word for word his statement on the corporate news release.
