London-headquartered global media and market research specialist Aegis Group has appointed Philippe Bourguignon as chairman of Aegis Media France.

The ultra-high-profile Bourguignon, who put the boeuf back into EuroDisney after the Magic Kingdom mislaid its wand, until recently served as co-ceo of the World Economic Forum. These days he is a serial company director, sitting on the boards of eBay, European bank Dexia-Bil and Paris daily newspaper Liberation.

Says Aegis ceo Doug Flynn, clearly proud of his new catch: "Jerry Buhlmann, our ceo Aegis Media Europe, and I are very much looking forward to welcoming Philippe Bourguignon. He is a well-known and highly respected business leader in Europe who will bring to our group his experience in brand development and his corporate vision."

Bourguignon joins Aegis in early April.
