MOSCOW: The city's municipally-controlled television channel TV Center is revamping its programming to boost advertising revenues and better compete with the state run national channels.

TV Center, regarded as the mouthpiece for the Russian capital's City Hall, plans to focus on entertainment and information by adding popular series, talk shows and investigative reports to its primetime schedules, thereby widening its appeal to a younger audience.

It currently offers a dry diet of city news, two weekly analytical shows, local weather reports and daily Western-made detective programs.
