The London and New York offices of WPP’s media planning/buying unit MindShare has been awarded the international business of the easyEverything internet café group.
London-headquartered easyEverything, run by voluble Greek entrepreneur Stelios Haji-Ioannu, is scheduled to open its latest café in Times Square, New York, next month with roll-outs to Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles planned for 2001 [WAMN: 18-Jul-00].
By then, boasts Haji-Ioannou, easyEverything will have sixty branches, with eleven new sites in Britain plus forty in prime European cities including Paris, Rome, Munich, Brussels and Antwerp.
Once the US beachhead has been consolidated, easyEverything will move into the major Far Eastern markets notably Japan, Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong.
In the three-way contest, MindShare beat the London offices of Carat and Starcom Worldwide, while London incumbent Media Matters, opted not to pitch.
