LOS ANGELES - The expected auction for Spanish-language US media group Univision is under way after it emerged that Mexican broadcaster Televisa had joined with investors Providence Equity Partners, Haim Saban and the Venezuelan Cisneros family to prepare a takeover bid.
Univision could fetch at least $12 billion (€10.1bn; £6.95bn), likely more, in view of the interest shown by broadcast giants such as NewsCorp, CBS, Walt Disney and Time Warner.
But a deal is still months away, say insiders.
