The lesser known Hispanic cousin of the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, the Ad Age Best Mexico awards, this year awarded the (non-Lions) share of its top prizes to the local offices of McCann Erickson and BBDO.

In the annual creative awards ceremony held last week in Mexico City, McCann scooped three awards, including silver in the print category for brewing company Cerveza Superior. It also won two bronzes in the same category for pharmaceutical company Wyeth's Preparation H and General Motors' Chevrolet.

BBDO fared even better. Winning gold in the print category for Bayer's Alka Seltzer, it also carried off a silver in the TV category for PepsiCo's Sabritas snack foods, and bronze for an outdoor billboard.

Augusto Elias Paullada was presented with the lifetime achievement award for work with Bacardi, Colgate and Philip Morris.
