Global fast food giant McDonald's made its contribution to the otherwise tasty cusisine of the Indian subcontinent last year, boosting its TV advertising by twenty two percent on 2003.

Latest figures from researcher TAM Media's AdEx India show the purveyor of burgers to the planet is also the biggest fast food advertiser in India with forty seven percent of TV spend. It was followed by Tricorn, owner of the Pizza Hut chain.

The US chains' expansion in India and elsewhere in Asia coincides with a move by European lawmakers to curb fast food advertising as concern grows over obesity in children.
