The famously hardnosed candy client has called an agency review following last week’s meeting Stateside of senior executives. High on their agenda, according to an insider, was D'Arcy's ability to handle advertising for the brand.

Pan-European ad spend is not known, although flagship brand Mars Bar spent around £6m last year in the UK alone, according to ACNielsen MMS. The brand is even more popular across mainland Europe where expenditure will be concomitantly higher.

Lips were tightly zipped, both at Mars and D'Arcy.
